Our science-based targets under the SBTi
In February 2023, we committed to setting science-based targets under the SBTi – the Science Based Targets initiative. SBTi is the global gold standard when it comes to climate targets. Their job: make sure companies like us don’t just talk about reducing emissions but set clear, measurable, and science-backed goals that actually align with the Paris Agreement and a 1.5°C pathway. All companies taking action are shown here: Target dashboard – Science Based Targets Initiative
Now it’s official: The SBTi has validated our near- and long-term science-based emissions reduction targets. We aim to halve Scope 1 and 2 emissions and reduce Scope 3 emissions by 25% by 2030, and reach net-zero by 2050. That means our path is recognized as aligned with the most ambitious climate science available. It’s a strong signal: we’re on track, and we’re serious.
To get here, we calculated our Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) for 2023 – our first full emissions inventory across all locations and all relevant emission sources. Here’s the baseline:
- Total footprint: 89.648 tCO₂e
- Scope 1: 18,8%
- Scope 2: 13,9%
- Scope 3: 67,3%

So, what’s next
- Now that the targets are validated, we need to deliver. That means:
- Continuing to implement real emissions reductions across our sites (think boilers, lighting, renewable energy, loading infrastructure)
- Collaborating with suppliers to tackle Scope 3
- Tracking and reporting transparently
We’ve set the path, now we walk it – together.
